Arrival in Xian

Xian-Tianshui Maijishan Grottoes

Destination: Maijishan Grottoes
After breakfast, you will take 2-hour morning bullet train to Tianshui city to visit the MaijiShan Grottoes Scenic Area where is one of China's four greatest Buddhist grottoes, which is also as known as "Oriental sculpture Museum". And this night will stay in Tianshui city.

Tianshui/Lanzhou/Xiahe

Destination: Labrang Monastery, Songke Grassland
After breakfast, you will take a morning drive head to Xiahe visit the Labrang Monastery, Songke Grassland.

Labrang Monastery: at the foot of the Phoenix Mountain northwest of Xiahe County in Gannan Tibetan Nationality Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province. A propitious place in the hearts of the Tibetan, it stands by the Daxia River and faces the Dragon Mountain.As for the Dragon and Phoenix Mountains, there is a beautiful legend. 

Songke Grassland: at an average altitude of over 3,000m above sea level, is situated a short 14km from Xiahe. This vast expanse of grassy plains, covering an area of around 70 square kilometers, is a lonely, beautiful place that is a nice change for those from bustling Chengdu or Lanzhou. There are only 4,000 Tibetan nomads on the grasslands, all wrapped up in their many, dirty layers, who graze yak herds and offer tourists the chance of a ride upon their horses. Entertainment here varies according to your preference. Botanists and hikers will be happy to just set off into the rolling hills, but for those after a little more exciting the horse rides, costing around RMB25, are good fun.

Xiahe-Lanzhou-Xining

Destination: Gansu Provincial Museum or White Pagoda Hill
After breakfast, you will be transferred (4 hours drive) back to Lanzhou to for afternoon visit to Gansu Provincial Museum or White Pagoda Hill.  Then you will be transferred to the railway station for evening bullet train (1 hours) to Xining.

Xining-Qinghai Lake

Destination: Ta'er Lamasery, Sun Moon Mountain, 151 Tourist Area, Black Horse River, Gahai Lake, Sand Island, Gold & Silver Bay Grassland

After breakfast, your local guide will meet and escort you to visit Ta'er Lamasery. It's the birth place of the founder of the Yellow Sect (also called Gelu Sect) Tsong Khapa. In the Tibetan language, Ta'er Monastery is called "gongben" which means 100, 000 figures of Buddha. Ta'er monastery is famous for its butter sculptures, the barbolas, and the murals.  In the late afternoon, you will drive (1.5-2 hours) from Xining to Lake Qinghai.

Enjoy a Qinghai Lake tour to visit Sun Moon Mountain, 151 Tourist Area, Black Horse River, Gahai Lake, Sand Island (Shadao), Gold & Silver Bay Grassland (Jinyinwan Grassland) and more tourist spots around the lake and camping at Huyuan Yi for overnight.

Qinghai Lake-Xining-Zhangye

Destination: Qinghai Lake/Xining/Zhangye

Zhangye-Jiayuguan-Dunhuang

Destination : The Jiayuguan Pass, The Great Wall on the Cliff, Great Walls Museum

The Jiayuguan Pass: The castle was begun in 1372 in the Ming Dynasty and located in the Jiayu Highland, hence its name Jiayuguan Pass. It is situated between the Wenshu and Heishan Mountains at the foot of Jiayuguan Hill of Qilian Mountain.

​The Great Wall on the Cliff: The Suspended Wall is a part of the Great Wall. The wall here was built on the ridge with the gradient of 45 degrees. It is high in the air and it looks as if it fell down from the top of the hill. So people refer to this section of the Great Wall as the "Suspended Wall". The Suspended Wall, the extension of the walls at the Jiayuguan Pass towards the north, was an integral part of the ancient defense system at the Jiayuguan Pass.

Great Walls Museum: The Great Wall museum opened to visitor in October 1989 and it is the first one to exhibit the Great Wall culture in a comprehensive and systematic way. The Museum covers an area of 12,312 square meters with an exhibition area of about 1,766 square meters. Then you will move and stay at Dunhuang.

Dunhuang-Turpan

Destination : Mogao Grottoes, Echoing-Sand Mountain, Crescent Lake

After breakfast visit the Mogao Grottoes , Echoing-Sand Mountain and Crescent Lake.then be transferred to the railway station to catch the train to Turpan.

Mogao Grottoes:
a shrine of Buddhist art treasures. this term is also used as a collective term to include other Buddhist cave sites in and around the Dunhuang area, such as the Western Thousand Buddha CavesEastern Thousand Buddha CavesYulin Caves, and Five Temple Caves. The caves contain some of the finest examples of Buddhist art spanning a period of 1,000 years.



Echoing-Sand Mountain and Crescent Lake: In 1994 it was acclaimed as the national key scenic spot. The Echoing-Sand Mountain is most popular site in Dunhuang travel. You may wonder why the sand makes these different sounds. There is a legend that says how, in ancient times, a general with many soldiers came here to fight in a war with their enemies. there is Crescent Lake so called because of its shape. The water in the lake is so pure and sweet that it looks like an emerald set in the sand.

Turpan

Destination : Jiaohe Ruins, Astana Tombs, Flaming Mountain

Jiaohe Ruins is located on a mesa in willow leaf shape between the Yarnaz River valleys 10 kilometers to the west of Turpan City. running from northwest to southeast, 1760 meters long and 300 meters across at the widest part. The city includes city gates, streets and lanes, government office, temples, domestic houses, cave houses, wells, and an underground temple.

Astana Tombs are the graveyard of the residents lived in the Gaochang City.
Of the thousand tombs that cover an area of 10 square kilometers, only three are open for viewing to the public. By far the most interesting is tomb number 210 which houses two mummies kept safely in glass caskets.



The Flaming Mountain:  also called “Red Mountain”, is located in the north of Turpan in China’s northwest Xinjiang Region. Its highest air temperature in summer is 47.8 degrees centigrade, and the ground is over 70 degrees centigrade in summer.

Turpan-Urumqi

Destination : Tuyoq Valley, Bezklik Grottoes

Tuyoq Valley The caves lies 65 kilometers to the east of the city of Turfan and are constructed or dug in eastern and western cliffs in Tuyoq valley . Among more than 40 caves, there are 10 preserving murals. They are considered to be the earliest caves in Turfan, Murals are mostly damaged, but unique in style.

Bezklik Grottoes It is located 50 kilometers to the east of Turfan City . “Bezeklik”means “a place with beautiful decoration”. There are 83 numbered caves; among them 40 preserved murals totaling 1200 square meters. The exising caves were reconstructed or newly extended by Uighurian people. In some caves one can find that Buddhish murals are painted on Manichean murals. Themes of the murals are mainly the stories about causes.

Local Uyger Family with Vineyard : Turpan is a kingdom of Grapes, all the local uyger families plant the grapes at the back of their house. Local Uyger family visiting is a special experience for you to know their lifestyle in the fireland. After a great journey in Turpan you will transfer to Urumqi.

Urumqi-Yinchuan

Destination : Xixia King's Tombs

After breakfast, take the morning flight to Yinchuan. Then you will proceed to visit the Helanshan Mural and the Xixia Wangling Tombs. In the afternoon, transfer back to Yinchuan for overnight.


 


The Mausoleum of Xixia dynasty is known as the Oriental Pyramid. It is one of the largest existing Emperor Mausoleums in China. At the same time, it is also one of the best-preserved Emperor Mausoleums in China. The Mausoleum is surrounded by the God Walls and covers an area of more than 100,000 square meters. Above the Mausoleum, there is a sloping tomb passage which is more than 40 meters long.

Yinchuan-Zhongwei-Yinchuan

Destination : Qingtongxia 108 Pagodas, Shapotou Scenic Area

After breakfast, transfer to Zhongwei city, on the way visit Qingtongxia 108 Pagodas. Arrive Zhongwei transfer to visit the Shapotou Scenic Area. In the afternoon, transfer back to Yinchuan.


108 Buddhist Pagodas lies at the east of Xiakou Mountain on the western shore of theYellow River. They are the primary attractions in Qingtongxia Reservoir near Yinchuan City. Here used to be grand temple buildings, This 108 pagodas form in 12 rows, the overall layout is narrow on the top and wide on the bottom, form an isosceles triangle, which is a unique style.

Shapotou Scenic Area is located in the southeastern line of Tengger Desert, about 20km away from Zhongwei County in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Shapotou is near the Yellow River, integrating sand and river scenery together. It takes a sudden turn on Shapotou area and gradually flows gently, thus the amazing natural place Shapotou is emerged. The boundless Tengger Desert covers the northern part thickly. Sands form a slope with 2,000 meters width and 200 meters height with a 60 degree angle.

Hotel service criterion: two adults share on one standard twin/double-bed room; solo traveler who want to occupy one twin/double-bed room assigned is required for extra single supplement rate.
